Alpha King’s pregnant Ex-Luna

Nelly remained composed, unaffected by the situation, while Spencer’s eyes flickered with panic. “What is she doing here?” he questioned.

Nelly looked at him calmly. “Don’t worry, she doesn’t know you’re here. She’s after me.”

A relieved sigh escaped Spencer’s lips. “Phew.”

Suddenly, Nelly asked, her eyes curious, “What happened between the two of you? You were the one who first told me about Thalia.”

Spencer’s cheeks flushed inexplicably. He blinked his narrow eyes. “What could happen between us? She’s a fierce and ruthless woman. No one can escape her.”

“Then why are you blushing?”

“What are you talking about?” Spencer demanded. “I’ve been drinking!” He grabbed the glass of red wine on the table and downed it.

A subtle smile appeared on Nelly’s lips as she observed him.

Are you being secretive, my friend? Very well.

Spencer became even more flustered after being teased by Nelly. “By the way,” he suddenly remembered something, “why did she come to you? Have you offended Darknetz?”

“I’ve had encounters with Darknetz in the past when I was investigating my father,” Nelly replied calmly, taking her time to eat. “They wanted me to join them.”

“So, that’s why they sent Thalia,” he surmised.

Nelly nodded.

“And you…”

“She doesn’t know who I really am,” Nelly concluded calmly.

Spencer narrowed his eyes. “She hasn’t figured you out, but you have figured her out?”

“When you first mentioned her to me, I couldn’t help but be curious and had her investigated. Plus, she’s quite beautiful, so she stuck in my memory.”

His response was rendered speechless.

Should I say something to that?

The thought made his symmetrical features twist in disdain. Spotting the bottle of red wine before him, he poured another glass and downed it.

Having a hacker close to you is truly terrifying. Before you discover anything about them after they enter your life, they’ve already uncovered all your secrets. And more importantly, saying the wrong thing to them could reveal everything.

Spencer inwardly thanked his lucky stars that he and Nelly were friends and not enemies.

How terrifying!

Clearing his throat, he asked, “Are you going to tell her?”

Nelly raised an eyebrow. “I have no intention of joining them. Why should I tell her?”

“So, you’re not even planning to show your face?” he asked, incredulous.

“It’s for the best,” was her simple reply.

A bitter smile played on his lips. For some reason, he felt sorry for Thalia.

At least they won’t be able to investigate or harm her. It’s unfortunate that they’ll have to return empty-handed.

At that moment, Nelly sensed something and glanced at her friend. “How about you be my go-between and tell her for me?”

“This conversation didn’t happen!” Spencer cried.

Nelly smiled at his fearful expression. “The renowned underworld doctor frightened by a little girl. I’m even more curious about what happened between you two.”

Spencer gave her a faint smile. “Curiosity killed the cat, young lady. You should be careful with your questions.”

“Maybe I should ask Thalia then?”

Spencer’s eyes widened. “You can’t!”

Nelly grinned at his exaggerated reaction but remained silent.

Spencer knew she wouldn’t actually do it. It was just a playful threat.

After knowing each other for so long, he was familiar with that side of Nelly’s character. With a determined gaze, he met her eyes. “Are you close with her?”

“Somewhat. She lives downstairs from us.”

Surprise made Spencer’s mouth hang open.

Though he didn’t show it, Nelly’s revelation filled him with worry for Thalia.

Does she even know who she’s living with? This woman can be called the devil without exaggeration!

Lowering his voice, his lips tightened with concern. “Don’t mention me to her or she’ll go mad.”

Spencer’s expression was serious as he spoke those words.

Though Nelly couldn’t confirm the truth behind his words, she didn’t press further. She simply nodded.

Everyone has their own secrets to keep.

Respecting her friend’s wishes, Nelly stopped her interrogation.

“Also, if she’s living beneath you…” Spencer blurted out before hurriedly stopping himself. “Forget it. It’s nothing!”

Nelly gazed at him, a smile involuntarily appearing on her lips. “Don’t worry. I’ll keep an eye on her.”

A hint of embarrassment flickered in his narrow eyes. “That’s not what I meant.”

The more he tried to explain, the more agitated he became. After a moment to collect himself, Spencer gave up. “Forget it, do whatever you want. I just want no part in this.”

Nelly only smiled at him without saying a word.

“Tell me about Darknetz. Are you really not considering joining?” Spencer attempted to change the subject. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”

Nelly’s gaze remained firm. “I promised my grandfather to not cause him any worries, at least until his hundredth birthday.”Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

“Ah, a rare gem in the hacker world,” Spencer lamented.

Nelly didn’t respond, as hacking was just one of her many interests. She had other things to pursue.

Comparatively, she cared more about the emotions of those around her than her career as a hacker.

“Darknetz has been gaining power in recent years,” Spencer continued. “They’ve become one of the major players in the world after rapid growth. And in the past two years, their progress has been exceptional. They’ve recruited the best hackers internationally and crushed any opposition they’ve faced.”

Nelly listened attentively without speaking.

“I don’t think they’re satisfied with just a seat at the table,” Spencer mused. “They want the biggest seat of all.”

Even though she was fully engaged in listening, Nelly remained silent.

“If they want to be the boss, then your influence would be their biggest obstacle. It’s best for you to stay neutral. If you joined another organization, you’d become a thorn in their side, putting a target on your back.” Spencer’s expression turned serious as he spoke.
