Alpha King’s pregnant Ex-Luna

“Yeah.” She nodded, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

Alpha Wade’s brows furrowed as he noticed her faltering demeanor. “What troubles you, child? Are you feeling any discomfort?”

Nelly thought for a moment, her eyes distant. “I had a dream about my childhood. The day I lost my parents…”

Alpha Wade was taken aback, his fierce alpha facade momentarily softened. “It is a painful memory, my dear. But it is in the past now.”

“That fire and my parents’ deaths were no accident!” Nelly’s voice quivered with conviction.

Hearing this, Alpha Wade instinctively turned away, avoiding her intense gaze. “Many witnesses saw what happened, Nelly. The investigation concluded it was an accident.”

“If that is true, then why won’t you let me pursue my own path, just like my father did?”

Alpha Wade reluctantly faced her once more. “Because I want you to live a normal life, away from danger. I fear that your pursuit may lead to tragedy, just as it did for your father. I only wish for your safety and happiness.”

Nelly had always obeyed Alpha Wade’s orders, even when she longed to delve into the truth behind her parents’ deaths. But she had learned to quietly investigate in secret, rather than challenge him openly.

She couldn’t fathom what worried her grandfather so deeply. Perhaps it was her recent dream, or the fact that she felt unwell.

Alpha Wade sighed, his gaze filled with resignation.

Her accusation had hit a nerve. He knew Nelly was talented with computers from a young age, but he dreaded the dangerous world of the internet, knowing it had claimed her father’s life. He feared her pursuit of the truth would only lead to her demise, or worse, consume her with vengeance. All he desired was for her to live a content and secure life.

His thoughts halted as he stared at her. “Regardless, you are all I have left. I only wish for you to find safety and happiness. Nothing else matters.” With those final words, he turned and prepared to leave.

“Grandpa!” Nelly’s voice rang out suddenly, stopping him in his tracks.

She approached him, her eyes filled with remorse. “I apologize for speaking out of turn…”

Alpha Wade visibly trembled at her words.

Nelly stepped closer to him, her gaze filled with determination. “But I am no longer a child, Grandpa. I understand your concerns, but you need not worry. I can protect myself and ensure your peace of mind.”

Alpha Wade turned back to face her, his eyes searching hers for reassurance. His lips twitched as though on the verge of speaking, but ultimately, no words escaped.

“Alright, I’ll go take a shower. I’ll be out soon,” Nelly smiled, the tension in the air dissipating.

“Your injuries haven’t fully healed yet. Where are you off to?” Alpha Wade questioned, concerned.

“Zachary invited me for a meal. I’ll be back once I’m done!” Nelly replied cheerfully.

Alpha Wade nodded, accepting her decision. “Go then. Take care and dress up.”

“Yes!” Nelly remembered something before she left, turning back to face him. “I also dreamed about how he looked when he rescued me, Grandpa…”

Those words froze Alpha Wade in place, his gaze fixed on her. “But he doesn’t remember anything now.”

Nelly gave him a gentle smile and left without another word, heading to cleanse herself.

Alpha Wade watched her departure with a sense of resignation in his eyes.

Once Nelly finished preparing herself, she left the house.

But as she stepped out, she found no sign of her grandfather.

She knew she had let her emotions get the better of her earlier. She had kept her feelings in check for so long, only to nearly lose control over a dream.

With her emotions now steadied, she made her way downstairs.

Zachary was on a call in the lobby. His eyes widened in surprise when he spotted her.

She wore a light-yellow slim dress that accentuated her fair skin, making her appear to glow. Her long, wavy hair cascaded effortlessly around her, giving her an enchanting, almost otherworldly aura. As she approached him, her graceful figure made her resemble a celebrity on a stage. She was so stunning that it was difficult to tear one’s eyes away.

In that moment, a flicker of envy passed through Zachary. He couldn’t help but feel a tinge of jealousy towards Alpha Kilian.

If only she had been mine from the start… once the call ended, Zachary pushed open the door, understanding the pleasure Alpha Kilian must have felt to have her by his side.

“Thank you for waiting!” Nelly said, staring at him.

Zachary shook off his envy, his smile returning. “Of course, I didn’t have to wait long at all.”

“So, where are we going?” she asked, her curiosity piqued.

He held the door open for her gallantly. “I have already made a reservation. You will find out soon enough.”

Nelly looked at him quizzically before getting into the car without further hesitation.

Zachary occasionally stole glances at her as he drove.

She seemed preoccupied, her thoughts clearly elsewhere. Clad in her dress, she seemed unaware of the tiny wounds it concealed. Oblivious to her own beauty, she paid it no mind, especially in her current state of mind.

After a drive of more than half an hour, the car came to a halt in front of an upscale restaurant.

Leaving his car keys with the valet, Zachary escorted Nelly into the establishment.

Inside, only the wealthiest individuals could afford to dine in such a high-class restaurant, and as soon as Nelly walked in, all eyes were drawn to her. Unbeknownst to her, Zachary noticed the attention she garnered, his male ego enjoying the admiration.

Grinning, he guided her to a table by the window.

“Thank you,” Nelly said as she took her seat.

“No need to thank me!”

As they settled at the table, Zachary couldn’t help but notice her troubled state. “You’ve been awfully quiet during the journey. Is something bothering you?”

Nelly shook her head, though her unease was palpable. “No, it’s nothing.”Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

He could tell that something was troubling her, despite her denial.

“Is it because of Alpha Kilian?” Zachary ventured.

Nelly turned to him, surprise etched on her face. “Why do you ask that?”

“Because I can’t think of anything else,” he replied, his smile unwavering.

A faint smile tugged at the corners of her lips. “There are many troubles that plague a beautiful woman, but not all of them involve men.”

Zachary grinned mischievously. “So, you’re saying it has nothing to do with him?”

Changing the subject, Nelly closed her eyes briefly before throwing a question of her own. “And what about you? Why did you invite me on this date today?”

Deciding to let her steer the conversation, Zachary dropped his initial line of inquiry. “Yes, I do have something I wish to discuss with you.”

“Tell me,” she urged, her curiosity piqued.

Zachary’s smile widened. “No need to rush. We can talk as we eat.” He beckoned a server over to take their order.

Nelly raised an eyebrow, silently questioning him.

As they waited for their food, Zachary engaged her in casual banter.

Once they had nearly finished their meal, he fixed his gaze on her and broached the main topic. “Nelly, I invited you on this date because…”
