Alpha King’s pregnant Ex-Luna

Sensing her unease, Alpha Kilian shot her a concerned glance. “What happened to your hand?”

Before she could respond, he forcefully rolled up her sleeves.

There lay a bruise on her wrist.

Alpha Kilian’s brows furrowed with worry. “What happened?”

Nelly yanked her arm away from his grip. “I’m fine,” she insisted.

Clearly, he didn’t believe her words.

Her pallor, her reaction, and the bruise on her wrist indicated that something was amiss.

“If you refuse to divulge the truth, I shall escort you to the healer for an examination,” Alpha Kilian threatened as he attempted to drag her out of the inn.

Nelly felt drained and did not wish to argue with him. However, she knew he would not relent until he accomplished his objective.

She swiftly devised an excuse. “I’m fine, truly. I injured my wrist when I battled with Gary that eve.”

Her response was partially true, thus Alpha Kilian regarded her doubtfully. “Is that so?”

Nelly nodded earnestly while meeting his gaze. “Indeed, of course.”

“Why did you not mention it at that time after being injured?” Alpha Kilian scolded, though he couldn’t help but feel sympathy for her.

Nelly found his reaction peculiar.

“It was not significant, in any case.” Nelly tenderly massaged her wrist before casually inserting her hand into her pocket.

Their eyes locked.

In an instant, the atmosphere grew uneasy.

Nelly broke the silence by stating, “I am fatigued. I shall return home and rest.”

“I shall provide you a ride home,” Alpha Kilian offered.

“It is unnecessary. I shall procure a taxi by myself.” Nelly promptly declined.

“You permitted Alpha Zachary to give you a lift but rejected me?” Alpha Kilian questioned, teetering on the brink of losing his temper.

Nelly was at a loss for words.

Why is he comparing himself to Zachary? What should I say?

As she remained silent, Alpha Kilian stated, “Come then.” He strode out of the inn.

Nelly had no choice but to follow him outside.

Alpha Kilian was about to assume the driver’s seat when Nelly interjected, “You are injured. Allow me to drive.”This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

Upon hearing this, Alpha Kilian halted in his tracks. He was uncertain whether she was displaying concern for him, yet it did elicit a slight relaxation within him.

His gaze scanned her as he replied, “It is unnecessary. I can still manage to drive.”

He settled into the driver’s seat. Nelly, too, entered the vehicle.

Just as the car sped away, Lara emerged from the inn behind them.

Her gaze transformed into a determined glare as the car disappeared from sight.

Nelly, I shall make you pay for taking what rightfully belongs to me!

Inside the car, Alpha Kilian drove with one hand. He stared ahead, wearing a somber expression. Clearly, his mood was foul.

Nelly cast a glance at his wounds and recollected how he had sustained them that eventful night.

“Continuing to travel will not contribute to your recuperation. It may even disrupt the healing of your sutures,” she stated.

Alpha Kilian turned to look at her upon hearing this. “Oh? Are you displaying concern?”

“You should tend to your own well-being,” Nelly solemnly answered.

A mocking smirk played upon Alpha Kilian’s lips. “Indeed, I should prioritize my own welfare. It has nothing to do with you.”

His sarcastic tone resonated most unpleasantly. Nelly furrowed her brow and declared, “Alpha Kilian, I am not meddling in your affairs. You became injured to save me, so it is only natural for me to show concern.”

Alpha Kilian scowled discontentedly.

“Thank you for rescuing my life. I am indebted to you. I shall repay your favor someday!” After uttering those words, she turned and stared out of the window, effectively terminating any conversation.

Suddenly, the car screeched to a halt.

Alpha Kilian whipped his head around angrily. “Nelly, I saved you to not acquire your gratitude. I do not wish for you to repay my debt. Do you comprehend?”

Nelly met his gaze with bitterness. “I do.”

“No, you do not comprehend. Nelly, you heartless woman. You comprehend nothing!” Alpha Kilian hissed.

Nelly forthrightly revealed, “Alpha Kilian, the only thing I can offer you at this moment is my gratitude.”

Alpha Kilian bit back the words that lingered on the tip of his tongue.

They were both adults, thus he understood the implications hidden within her words.

She is rejecting me because of Zachary!

Suddenly, silence enveloped the vehicle.

Alpha Kilian stared at her before emitting a self-deprecating laugh.

“It appears that I have overestimated myself,” he despondently remarked.

Without uttering a word, he ignited the engine and resumed driving.

Nelly did not comprehend his meaning, yet she had no intention of seeking clarification.

It was too late to retract her words, and she had no desire to offer any explanations.

Thus, they maintained silence throughout the entire journey.

Shortly thereafter, the car rolled to a stop in front of Nelly’s abode.

Nelly unbuckled her seatbelt and glanced at him. “Thank you for the ride. Donna and the children are at school, so I shall not invite you inside.”

She pushed open the door and was about to depart when Alpha Kilian reached out to halt her.

He gazed at her, struggling to rein in his emotions. “Nelly, if it had been Alpha Zachary who rescued you, would you say the same thing to him?”

Nelly’s gaze turned dark. “He is different, so I would assuredly say something else.”

“Does that imply you are in love with him?”

Nelly could not fathom why he would think such a thing. She was about to reply when he interjected, “You will not find happiness with him. You will be hurt.” His voice was hoarse.

Nelly narrowed her eyes and concluded there was no need to clarify matters with him.

“Will I find happiness with you? Will I avoid harm if I end up with you?”

Alpha Kilian froze.

“Alpha Kilian, it matters not whether I love him. At the very least, he respects me. Back then, you did not even deign to show me any respect. How dare you claim that he will inflict harm upon me?” Nelly sneered.

Observing that Alpha Kilian was evidently at a loss for words, she scoffed. “I am old enough to cease relying on someone else for my happiness. I possess all that I ever desired.”

Having said that, she forcefully removed her arm from his grasp and ascended the stairs, slamming the door shut behind her.
