Addicted to Luring – Mister, Please Behave

Chapter 80: Don’t Call Dad

It was a rainy night, and the morning was still early. The room was damp, and Wendy felt a little uncomfortable.

The strong light came and she covered it with her hand. Through the gaps between her fingers, she saw Cassie standing under the curtain, her dark face full of resentment.

“The Gavyn Family didn’t marry you to let you sleep,” Cassie said.

Immediately, Wendy sat up from the bed and staggered into the bathroom. However, before she could close the door, Cassie stopped her with one hand. “Clean the attic today.”

Then, she left.

At the same time, Rex called. Wendy didn’t even have time to wash her face before answering the phone. “Hello? Rex.”

“There’s a business plan in my notebook marked A. Please print it out and send it to me.”

“Right now?” Wendy asked.

Rex hummed in agreement and hung up the phone. He didn’t even give Wendy a chance to catch her breath.

She suddenly felt a little uncomfortable in her stomach, but she didn’t take it to heart. She muttered the business plan in her head, opened Rex’s laptop, and copied it with a USB flash drive.

When she walked down the stairs, Uncle John was alone in the living room. She cast her eyes to the yard, but Cassie was still nowhere to be seen.

“Uncle John, where is Madam?” Wendy asked gently.

At this moment, Cassie walked down the stairs and threw a wet rag on Wendy. The dirty rag stained Wendy’s body, making her feel cold to the blood. She bit her lip and refused to bend down to pick up the rag on the ground.

Cassie stood in a higher position, and the disgust in her eyes seemed to be able to kill Wendy. “Take the rag and wipe all the windows and floors of the attic. I will check at noon. If there is one place that is not clean, you don’t have to have dinner tonight.”

“Mom, Rex……”

“Hello? Rosaria, I’ll pick you up later. Let’s go shopping.” Ignoring Wendy’s chat, Cassie called Rosaria and went downstairs.

Wendy stood on the stairs with a wet rag under her feet, which was still stained with dirt. She immediately covered her mouth and felt nauseous.

What was the point of living under someone else’s roof?

She bent down, picked up the rag, and walked step by step to the attic.

There were all kinds of junk in the pavilion, and no one had cleaned it for a long time. As soon as she opened the door, the dust immediately rushed to her face. Wendy choked and coughed with her mouth and nose covered.

She hesitated. The junk inside occupied most of the space, and there was no place to stand at all on the ground. Moreover, some wooden frames and other things were piled up together shakily, as if they would collapse at the slightest touch.

She took a step forward, and the dirt on the ground splashed all over her feet. She picked up her sleeping dress that was dragging on the ground, tied it into a knot, tied it around her waist, rolled up her sleeves, and prepared to remove the wooden frames.

With a hissing sound, her dress was cut by something. When her hand touched the rag, her palm was cut by something sharp. Blood immediately gushed out, and under the deep wound was a sharp blade.

The blade seemed to be a weapon dipped in cold poison, flashing with terrifying light in this dim and narrow space, and the blood on it dripped to the ground.

Wendy’s heartbeat was so heavy that it stagnated in her chest. The pain slowed down by half a beat as it hurtled towards her.

Like a startled chick, she threw away the rag, ran down from the attic and went straight to her room.

The pain had caused her to forget everything else. She gritted her teeth and took out the first-aid kit. Just as she was about to apply the disinfectant, her hair was grabbed from the ground, and her scalp immediately felt numb and painful.

“I told you to wipe the penthouse. Did you hear me?” Cassie’s voice was ear-piercing. It cut through Wendy’s ears and blood blurred her vision. When she opened her eyes again, she was already unconscious.

Her mind went blank, as if she had entered the realm of chaos.

“Wendy…… Wendy……” Soft and gentle voice caused her eyes to brim with warm tears. She struggled to free herself from her dreams and slowly opened her eyes. Kelly looked at her with a pained expression, “Wendy, you’re finally awake.”

Wendy trembled imperceptibly and propped herself up with one hand. “Mom……”

Tears welled up in Kelly’s eyes as he held Wendy’s uninjured hand. “Good girl, Mom is here. You’ve suffered.”

She bit her lips, trying not to cry, but tears fell silently to the ground.

In the eyes of the mother, the child would always be the child, and in the eyes of the child, the hug of the mother would always be a safe harbor.

“Mom!” Wendy hugged Kelly tightly and sobbed in her arms.

“Alright, it’ll be fine as long as you cry.”

Wendy let go of Kelly, wiped away her tears, and asked, “Why are you here? Why am I in the hospital?”

Rex?

As soon as Rex was mentioned, Wendy seemed to remember something. She touched her pocket and found that the USB stick was still there.

“I still have something to send to Rex.”

“With your poor health, you’d better behave yourself.” Rex suddenly walked in from the outside and smiled at Kelly. Kelly also nodded and left the ward.

All of a sudden, she felt like she was dreaming. Only the bandaged wound on her hand reminded her of what had happened at home just now.

Rex sat by the bed and lowered his eyes slightly. “What are you thinking about?”

Wendy shook her head. “No, why…… why am I in the hospital?”

“You fainted at home. Mom sent you here,” Rex explained.

“Mom…… what did she say?” Wendy probed.

“What can you say?” Rex could tell that Wendy was hiding something from him. “Why don’t you explain to me what happened to your hand?”

“I……” Wendy coughed. “I went to the attic to get something, but I was accidentally cut by a knife.”

Rex listened calmly. “This woman doesn’t even know how to lie.”

“Mn, Wendy, feel free to lie to me.”

Wendy tensed up all of a sudden and she said powerlessly, “I didn’t.”

How did he know?

“I don’t care if you have it or not. Give me a reasonable explanation. Because of your mistake, the company has lost a few million.” Rex’s cold and silent attitude made Wendy feel as if she had been accused.

Wendy smiled faintly and didn’t explain. The more she explained, the easier it would be for him to find fault with her. She couldn’t possibly tell Rex everything that Cassie had done, right? He probably wouldn’t believe her even now.

Neither side spoke. There was a stalemate.

“Tomorrow, you’ll go listen to a circus class and let Clare bring you along.” Rex tugged at his collar as if he was depressed.

Wendy fixed her gaze on him and asked, “What about you?”

“Do I need to explain so much to you?”Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

A bucket of cold water was poured over Wendy’s head as she smiled awkwardly.

“In that case, my baby doesn’t have to call you father anymore,” Wendy said deliberately.
