Branch One Hundred and Thirty Three
Jessica found herself awake by the crack of dawn. She felt her head ache but it was bearable. She was glad she had listened to Xavier and gone to bed before she took any more drink.
She loomed beside her and he was sleeping so peacefully with his hand on the chest that moved in a rhythm as if he was making music. She smiled to herself as she watched him. She might not be able to stay by his side longer but she could at least in the little time she had with him be a good friend to him while having a one sided crush on him.
She decided to do so. After all normal people crushed on celebrities and they were still able to live very productive lives without the celebrity knowing who they were. She was lucky, his crush knew her. He might not know her that well but at least he knew her.
She stood up and decided to make breakfast. She might have to make a huge meal since they had guests stay over at night. She needed to amaze them once again with her cooking skill set. She had a quick freshen up of herself when she saw her reflection in the mirror.
She looked like a zombie and she knew she was tired but the fact that she had a lot to do or so she thought woke her up so early.
“Good morning everyone,” she said as she skipped into the kitchen.
“Young lady,” Roselle said in a scolding voice. “I thought you would sleep in and enjoy the rest. You had been busy all day and then you still stayed up to party” she maintained the tone.
She wanted her to know she was not all that pleased that she decided to come put.
“Come on, how can I sleep when I know that there is a lot to do here?”
“Young lady, there are a lot of staff here to do the work and if we are not enough we can get some more anytime,” Roselle said picking her words one after the other. “So you don’t need to feel obligated to help out here. Moreover, you are the lady of the house”
“Lady of the house my foot,” she said walking towards the coffee maker. “I’ll be making coffee do you want a cup?”
“I want one” Jessica heard a voice from behind. She turned to see Leslie coming in. Like her she also looked like a big mess. It did serve them right for drinking some much like they did not care for their livers.
“A big glass of bitter black coffee” she added lazily sitting on the counter stool.
“Any for you Roselle?”
“I am a fine Young lady” Roselle answered bowing.
“Oh my, I feel like my head is about to split into two” Leslie groaned running her hand through her head.
“Did you have more to drink after I had left?” Jessica asked feeling concerned for her friend.
“Hmm”
Jessica had a hard time trying to know what the answer was. Did she drink more or not? It seemed like Leslie was not in an okay place and she said not want to push it any further. She would come around after a while or Jessica could simply bring it up when things seemed less tense from her end.
“I will make breakfast soon enough so you can take some aspirin,” Jessica said diverting the topic.
“I am sure you will be fine after some”
“Do you do this every morning?” Leslie asked as she helped Jessica who had been busy the whole time.
She still had this stiff aura to her but after the morning coffee, it seemed like she relaxed a bit.
“Not every morning. Some days it’s less extravagant and some other days I’m too busy to make one” Jessica explained as she flipped the cinnamon pancakes in the pan.
The aroma of her cooking a storm filled the atmosphere.
“Why?” Leslie mumbled. “You have house staff for all that. You can kick back and relax”
“I am used to cooking my meals myself. It seems like I have been doing so for a long while now. I just extended it a little to feed Dawson and Xavier too” she said pouring new batter into the pan.
“Moreover I now do it as an appreciation for them allowing me to stay here and taking care of me in many ways” Jessica added silently.
Her mind cast back to the days and weeks before that time. It seemed like Xavier was always finding a solution to everything that came up with her. When Emma spread malicious lies and ended up in the police station.
Surprisingly she claims to be anti people but he always knew what to do to instantly make her feel better. She concluded that it was his fault she fell for him. If you want a girl to fall for you you must treat her nicely. Then only would she look your way.
Girls like being treated nicely more, especially girls like her who barely got any love growing up and then ended up in a situation where another man ripped their heart off and broke it severally ways they never thought possible.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.
“So you do this as an appreciation? Do you also pack him a lunch box?” Leslie teased.
“No I do not but that is a very good idea. I should look into it” Jessica said pouring the last of the batter into the pan.
“Oh fresh, ” Leslie said walking away. “I’ll get the table set then”
“I will help you out,” Angel said as she heard what Leslie said.
“Oh thanks, I really needed the help” Leslie whispered with a false smile on her face.
“Oh my gosh, we could barely sleep because of the wonderful aroma coming from here,” Alicia said as she rubbed her eyes entering the kitchen.
“But why are you just waking up now?” Leslie said. A tint of disappointment could be heard in her voice.
“I thought it was such a vivid dream I was having” Alicia countered dragging her feet to the nearest stool she could find.
“Are you sure you are fully awake now?” Jessica asked waving the spatula in her face.
“Yes I am,” she said holding her hand still and staring at her. “Coffee” she murmured after a long silence between both parties.
Jessica laughed as she freed herself from her friend’s grip.
“Sure how do you like yours?”
