Why Did You Keep Silent?
On the front lawn of Dumorz University,
"Are you sure Lizzy missed class because of a fever?" A handsome young man asked in a probing tone. The brunette girl nodded. She was not alone; a man was sitting on the right, and they were holding hands.
"Yesterday, Letta told me that she was already feeling feverish and it happened when she left her father, Rayner." The twenty-year-old girl answered casually and seemed so convincing that the interlocutor did not doubt her statement. "Why are you only telling me now that Letta is sick, Gwen?" The same young guy asked again, but his tone was accusatory of the opposite sex. The girl glared at the person who was talking to her.
"You are so weird! That question should have been directed at yourself. How can you not know what Letta is going through when she is your lover?" Gwen replied curtly, so her lover, who had been listening to the conversation, rubbed her right upper arm spontaneously.
"How could I know when she did not tell me anything!" That guy did not want to lose the argument, so the young woman snorted.
"What kind of boyfriend are you? Every time you see Letta, you fight! If that was the case, how can she talk to you freely? You idiot!" Gwen could not help swearing, irritated by the other person's words. "You-"
Before he could continue, Gwen's boyfriend cut him off. "Sammy, enough! I do not mind you arguing but do not blame my girl. She was right. You should know more about Letta's news than we do."
Sammy glared, but he did not seem to dare argue. The situation in the front yard of the university was busy. Not even a few of the students and female students who were there were chatting. Some were reading books, and some were making out with their lovers. Gwen turned to her boyfriend, and he did the same. They smiled at each other as if they already knew what was on their minds.
A breeze blew through Sammy's hair. The young man became sad but did not dare express his feelings openly, while Gwen returned her attention to Arletta's lover. However, the Aries woman remained silent, as if allowing Sammy to start first. Jeremy was right. I did not understand what was going on with Lizzy because we had been fighting more often. Just this morning, she answered all my messages and said she was sick, so she would not show up at the college. I felt so guilty. Sammy thought back about what he and Letta had been through, so the moment made him sad.
"Gwen."
The long-haired girl turned her head when she heard her name being called. It turned out that the person calling her was Sammy.
"What?" Gwen asked as she raised one eyebrow.
"Did Letta tell you anything else that I might not know?" Sammy asked seriously.
Gwen was silent, then without hesitation shook her head, although in reality the girl did know something, but she had promised Arletta not to say anything, especially to her mother. Sammy looked incredulous. However, the short-haired man waited for an answer from the other person.
"No, she did not tell me anything new." Gwen answered without feeling guilty at all.

Sammy paused as if remembering something. He turned his attention to the opposite sex, who was still in the same area. "If I am not mistaken, Lizzy had let slip that she wanted to see a psychiatrist. Did she have a mental breakdown recently?" Gwen shrugged her shoulders in a sign of ignorance. "Letta did not say anything about a psychiatrist or having a mental breakdown. Yesterday she told me that she felt sick and hated her dad so much. That was all."
Oh my God! How could Sammy have hit on that, anyway? Letta was so careless that she had blurted out unnecessary things! Gwen could only curse inwardly and tried to act as normal as possible so that Sammy would not get suspicious. "It is weird. You should know that." Sammy began to accuse Gwen, causing the pretty girl to chuckle.
"I could not possibly force Letta to say something unless she wanted to do it herself. She is not a child or a robot who must obey all your silly wishes."
Sammy seemed stunned by Gwen's rebuttal, but he did not want to argue about the same thing.
I was not sure about Gwen's statement. Girls usually gossip about many things and that must include Lizzy and Gwen. I could easily pressure her if only Gwen was not my cousin! Sammy muttered in annoyance at not getting the information he wanted.
"You would better call Letta instead of thinking weird thoughts. If she were really sick, she would be at the doctor's right now," Gwen suggested, so Sammy's attention was diverted to the other person. "It is easy for you to talk like that." Sammy disagreed with Gwen's idea, which made the girl frown.
"Why won't you talk to Letta? Do not tell me that you fought again!" The young woman who liked red and gold already had bad thoughts, especially since she seemed to understand Sammy's attitude. The young man had not answered, so Gwen's suspicions grew. However, she was still waiting for an answer from the other person.
Sammy was such an idiot! If I had a better cousin, I would have introduced my best friend to him. Why did I have a stupid cousin like him, anyway? Gwen grumbled internally, and her face looked annoyed. "Honey, do you have any more classes after this?" The question made Gwen turn her head to the right, and her boyfriend scrutinized her face intently.
"Yup. I have a class at three in the afternoon. How about you, Babe?" Gwen answered the question honestly, but not so enthusiastically.
"I am the same way. Do you still want to be here? We will be late later." The red-haired man invited his girlfriend to leave as soon as possible and ignored Sammy, who was still busy with his own thoughts. "Okay."
The couple immediately stood up, while Sammy remained silent, unaffected by the situation. Before leaving the area, Gwen turned to Arletta's boyfriend. "How long are you going to be there? You have to go to class, right?" Sammy was stunned and spontaneously looked at Gwen. The slender girl frowned at her cousin's strange reaction. "Why did you keep silent? Hurry up!"
"Wait!"
