Chapter 42
Chapter 42
After leaving his grandfather’s mansion, Jace returned to his mansion.
The mansion was filled with wedding decorations, and Jace found them to be a pain to look at. He quickly ordered his butler to remove everything. The butler immediately had the maids remove everything. Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
There were tons of missed calls from Sienna, but Jace had no intentions of dealing with her and turned off his phone instead.
Taking off his coat and draping it over his arm, he was making his way toward his study when he came to a sudden stop. Pushing open the door to the master bedroom, Jace realized that the rose-scented smell of Sage was long gone. It was as if she was never here,
The rose seal was still on the bedside table. Picking it up, Jace traced his fingers across the seal and realized that the red ink had seeped into his name carved on the stamp pad.
Reading the card that Sage had left him, he realized that the handwriting on the card was similar to the carved-out name on the seal. Could it be that Sage had personally carved his name onto the stamp pad?
When did she learn to carve?
Jace shook his head softly. He figured that Sage could have easily hired an expert who was able to imitate her handwriting, but he could not help but admire the amount of thought she had placed into the present.
Putting down the seal and the card, Jace returned to his bedroom. Opening the door to his wardrobe, Jace saw the section that was filled with all sorts of gift boxes. He suddenly realized that Sage had
been giving him gifts all the time.
Apart from Christmas, Jace did not care much for other celebrations, but Sage cared for them.
Jace would always receive gifts from her on Valentine’s day, their wedding anniversary, and his birthday. In the beginning, she had always personally given him his gifts, but after seeing him toss his gifts aside without even opening them, Sage began asking Zayne to pass him her gifts, or she would just leave them in his wardrobe.
Her gifts were nothing grand Sometimes a necktie, a pen, or a cufflink, but he had never given her anything.
Jace had not been a good husband to Sage.
Changing into casual clothes, Jace retumed to the study room to work. Turning on his laptop, he began going through his inbox, but he could not seem to concentrate.
Annoyed, Jace turned off the laptop, lit a cigarette, took a few puffs, and put out the cigarette.
He then turned on the laptop again. Typing ‘Sage Norah’ into the search box, Jace’s fingers flew furiously across the keyboard. He looked somewhat… determined.
Since Yoel was not willing to help him, Jace decided to look into Sage himself.
He wanted to know why Sage had pretended to be a caretaker three years ago, and why she was willing to hide her real identity just to get married to him.
He too wanted to understand why a prideful and wealthy lady was willing to put away her status to be his wife.
Sage’s head assistant, Hunter, was working on his laptop when the notification alarm went off. He checked the notification and reported to Sage, “Ma’am, someone is trying to hack into your profile.”
Pushing Yoel aside, Sage took the laptop from Hunter and checked the notification to find that someone had indeed started looking into her.
Her face hardened as she ran her fingers across the keyboard. In just a few seconds, several lines of codes appeared on screen.
Yoel, who was sitting beside her, was stunned. He was aware that Sage had a professional hacker working for her, but he did not expect Sage to be the professional hacker.
