A kiss

Satisfied with the compromise, Andrew decided not to push the issue any further. Instead of going back to sit with Laura, he walked outside and

called for Benson.

Andrew had always been worried about how Rowan was handling Madelyn’s situation, so he told Benson, “She’s at Milton Building. Go there and keep an eye on things. Make sure everything goes smoothly.”

“Yes, sir,” Benson replied quickly.

Andrew was anxious because Madelyn, who was new on the job, was already meeting with an important client. It was natural for him to be worried.

If Madelyn were working under Andrew’s name as his wife, no one would dare make things difficult for her.

But if that were the case, as Madelyn had pointed out, she wouldn’t need to do much. She would never get to face the tough realities of the workplace.

But Madelyn didn’t realize that with Andrew protecting her like this, he was already keeping those tough realities away from her.

When Madelyn arrived at Milton Building and walked toward the private room, she saw Amelia and George talking through the big windows in the lobby. George, who looked thin and nervous since leaving Serenity Villa, was having a serious conversation with Amelia, who looked very angry.

Madelyn was confused. It seemed strange that George, who no longer worked at Serenity Villa, would still be meeting with Amelia.

Before she could figure it out, she heard Amelia’s angry voice through the windows. “Don’t even think about getting any money from me. I didn’t get a single cent when I divorced.

“And don’t you dare try to find Elena, do you understand?” Amelia’s voice.

grew more urgent.

George’s expression became tense. “If you don’t give me another 200 grand, I’ll have to go after Elena.”

“Forget about Elena. She has nothing to do with you. Have you ever…” Amelia’s voice trailed off as she looked around, her irritation shifting to

The café was still empty, so Amelia felt free to talk openly. But when she saw Madelyn, her face went pale.

George noticed Madelyn too, and his expression changed right away.

Amelia pushed George and said, “Just go for now.”

“And the money…” George started to say.

“Forget about it! Just leave!” Amelia shouted, clearly done with the argument. She pushed him to go.

Seeing Madelyn, George didn’t say anything more and quickly left.

The staff kept their usual blank expressions and continued their work. In a fancy café like this, they were trained to stay professional and not get involved in customers‘ personal issues.

Amelia walked up to Madelyn with a stiff look on her face, noticing that Madelyn was wearing clothes and accessories designed by Andrew

himself.

Before this, Amelia had been jealous of Madelyn for having such a great husband. Even though Madelyn wasn’t wearing big–name designer brands, her clothes were special in their own way.

Amelia asked quietly, “When did you get here?”

Madelyn glanced at her watch. She had arrived 20 minutes early. She answered calmly, “I’ve heard everything I wasn’t supposed to.”

Amelia’s face went even whiter.

“Will you tell him?” Amelia asked, her voice shaky.

By “him“, Amelia meant Caleb.

Madelyn looked at Amelia in silence. Even though she had overheard more than she should have, she still found it hard to believe what was

happening.

“Is she George’s daughter?” Madelyn asked.

Amelia’s breath caught, and her already pale face turned even whiter.

She tried to deny it, but she couldn’t remember what she had said in her anger.

Madelyn’s question made it clear that Amelia had revealed more than she intended.
