Chapter 263
Jason’s warm hand snaked in, causing a tingle to dance across Estrella’s scalp.
As she reached out to push him away, Jason caught her wrist, leaned in close, and planted a kiss on her lips.
Isaac was strapped into the booster seat beside them, and there Estrella was, sandwiched between the two, the atmosphere charged with an ambiguous blend of warmth and intimacy.
After a fervent kiss, Estrella’s blouse had come undone, revealing her shoulders.
Watching Jason unabashedly take his liberties, Estrella, with an icy reminder, said, “Jason, if you wake my son, all your recent efforts will have been for nothing.”
Jason’s hand, which had been roaming her waist, paused. He recalled the time he had stolen a kiss from Estrella, the fierce battle Isaac put up, and how the little guy still hadn’t called him ‘Dad’.
Their eyes met, and upon seeing Jason withdraw his hand, Estrella couldn’t resist goading him, “Don’t be scared. Keep going”
At Estrella’s sarcastic remark, Jason, unhurried, straightened her clothes, “Just looking out for you, to satisfy your needs.”
Estrella snorted.
Once Estrella was decent again, Jason pulled her into his embrace. He kissed her forehead and said, “I’ve been living quite a full life lately. Mom and Grandpa, they all adoré
Isaac.”
Estrella softly closed her eyes to rest. She had been running herself ragged between the police station, the courthouse, and Glimmering Lake, slimming down considerably. With her eyes closed and nestled in Jason’s arms, he felt a surge of contentment and began to gently knead her hand, helping her unwind.
Glancing at Isaac in the booster seat, Jason, stroking her shoulder, whispered, “Back then, I didn’t want to rush into having kids, afraid it’d lead to divorce. Here we are, after everything.”
What Jason didn’t anticipate was that they would get divorced three years after her return. When Jason mentioned the past, Estrella said without opening her eyes, “Once the Glimmering Lake case wraps up, make an appointment with the doctor.”
She had been so focused on Glimmering Lake recently that the fire incident had been put on hold, and she hadn’t even discussed any progress with Serene.

“Sure,” Jason murmured, continuing his gentle massage.
Estrella then mentioned, “By the way, your grandfather came to see me today.”
At the mention of Keith seeking her out, Jason’s expression darkened, his hands ceasing their movement. Then he reached for his phone in his pocket.
After that day, he had told Keith to stay away from Estrella, insisting it was pointless, yet Keith had still come. Jason’s good mood vanished instantly.
Sensing his agitation, Estrella opened her eyes As he was about to make a call, visibly upset, Estrella stopped him, asking, “What are you doing?” and added, “Keith came to plead on your behalf, asking
me to give you another chance.” Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
At her words, Jason’s scowl softened, and he put his phone aside. Estrella gave him a disdainful glance and then leaned back against his shoulder.
Taking the initiative, Jason captured her lips once more. This time, he wasn’t so quick to let go, his hands becoming bold on her body.
Only after Estrella shivered and pushed him away did he chuckle and retreat, whispering in her ear, “After the Glimmering Lake case, how about you take Isaac to Sandalwood Oasis for a few days. I will let you relax better.”
Estrella chuckled dismissively, “Keep dreaming.” She wasn’t going to fall for his seduction so easily.
When Estrella didn’t agree, Jason teased, “Don’t you want it, even a little?”
Estrella casually brushed him off, “I never shortchange myself. When I want it, I take care
of it.”
Jason nearly choked, his mood shifting again. But recalling Estrella’s response, he perked up, pinching her chin, “You’re something else, always talking big.”
Estrella’s reaction told Jason that she hadn’t slept with anyone in a very long time. And during those years apart, he had seldom thought of such matters. Mostly, he was consumed by guilt when he thought of her.
Pushing Jason’s hand away, Estrella straightened her clothes, “I need to take Isaac home.” Jason got out of the car first, and as Estrella followed, her legs nearly buckled. Thankfully, Jason was there to steady her, teasing, “Can’t even stand straight? What if we actually did it?”
At his smugness, Estrella stomped on his foot hard, “Just get Isaac out of the car.”
After Jason lifted Isaac from the car, Estrella reached out to take him, but Jason said, “Let me carry him inside.”
Estrella stared at him for a moment, considering how well he had taken care of Isaac
lately, and retracted her hand.
When they arrived home, Autumn sprang up from the sofa upon seeing Estrella return with Isaac. Reaching the foyer and seeing Isaac in Jason’s arms, Autumn’s face fell, and her welcoming smile froze.
Autumn, who had been watching the three of them without moving for a while, finally came to her senses and greeted them with a wry smile. “Jason, long time no see.” Then she chided, “Look at Estrella, making you carry Isaac. We don’t even know if your injury has healed yet.”
Autumn appreciated Jason for saving Estrella, but she was resolutely against them getting back together. In this day and age, no one believed in going back to an old flame. Back when they were still hitched, Estrella had offered all the olive branches she could
muster.
With that, Autumn signaled the housekeeper to whisk Isaac away.
Jason coolly reassured, “I’m all patched up, no worries.”
Autumn couldn’t help but bristle, masking her displeasure with a courteous smirk, “Look at the time, Jason. It’s getting late. I won’t keep you for a chat now. We’ll find another day. for a proper sit-down.”
With Isaac carried off, Jason slipped his hands back into his pockets, the picture of composure, “How about this Saturday then? Estrella should be free from the Glimmering Lake case by the weekend, so we’ll both have some time.”
The Glimmering Lake case was set for its third hearing on Friday and was expected to reach a conclusion.
Standing opposite him, Autumn found herself at a loss for words. She had merely extended a polite gesture, but he took it quite literally.
