I didn’t say anything
Letta stopped her hand movements as she felt her phone vibrating in her trouser pocket. However, she couldn’t answer the call at the moment as she was busy serving several customers who were filling the beer cafe. She glanced at the clock, which showed nine in the morning, a time when people often enjoyed their coffee. Letta chose to ignore it and focus on her work, which she had been doing for the past week.
“Letta, please deliver shirt number seven,” called Dirly, prompting Letta to hurry and fetch the shirt and deliver it. She repeated the same task several times until her stomach suddenly cramped, making her feel slightly lightheaded.
“Are you alright?” Molly asked, rubbing Letta’s shoulder from behind, causing Letta to turn around.
“Yes, my stomach is cramping a little,” Letta said, making Molly nod.
“You’d better take a short break. I see you’ve been busy even though I’m here, and Romeo, who knows what he’s doing back there,” Molly said again, making Letta smile.
“Alright,” Letta said, following Molly’s advice. She walked to the staff room and began to regulate her breathing slowly. Lately, she had been feeling a bit enthusiastic about her work, but her stomach kept cramping. Letta had to mention this when she went for her check-up later.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Letta tried to reach for her phone when she remembered several missed calls a while ago. She smiled as she saw the name displayed on her phone, prompting her to quickly call that number.
“Hello,” Letta said.
“Hello, where are you?” came the heavy voice that Letta missed so much.
“I’m at work,” Letta replied.
“Where are you working? I heard from Mia that you quit your previous job,” Abian asked, causing Letta to stop smiling.
“I apologize for not being able to tell you. But I intend to explain it to you after we meet,” Letta said, making Abian pause for a moment on the other end.
“Are you okay?” Abian asked, making Letta nod.
“Yes, I’m fine. How about you? Is your work going smoothly?”
“Everything’s going smoothly,” Abian replied.
“So, where exactly are you working now?” Abian asked again, prompting Letta to finally disclose her workplace address.
“Okay, then, good luck at work. I’ll have a surprise for you later when you’re back,” Abian said, making Letta furrow her brow.
“What is it?” Letta asked.
“It’s a secret, so you better get back to work now,” Abian said, finally ending their call. Letta felt a little more excited after hearing Abian’s voice, which always managed to improve her mood. Despite the distance that hindered their long-distance relationship, Abian never failed to make Letta stop smiling.
At times, Abian would send surprise gifts from afar, with small gestures that made Letta happy. Letta then returned to work as her stomach started to feel better. She couldn’t continue resting and let Molly handle all the work. Letta went back inside, seeing some customers starting to leave the cafe one by one.
“How are you feeling now, better?” Molly asked, making Letta nod.
“Yes, much better. Let me handle everything now,” Letta said, prompting Molly to hand over the tray to her. Letta walked towards the kitchen to put away some dirty utensils. She saw Romeo busy with some dough, making her a little curious.
“I’m working, so you don’t need to be suspicious,” Romeo suddenly said, making Letta turn to him. Romeo seemed like the type of person who was sensitive to his surroundings, even though Letta didn’t say anything and just glanced at him briefly.
“I didn’t say anything,” Letta said.
“But your gaze implies that you’re suspecting me. Relax, I’m not freelancing while working here, and Noah is aware of it,” Romeo replied, looking at Letta with a blank stare. Of the two new employees at her workplace, Romeo seemed to make her feel uncomfortable. He appeared to dislike Letta, as if bothered by her presence. However, on the other hand, Romeo seemed fine with her, leaving Letta slightly puzzled about Romeo’s thoughts towards her.
Letta then chose to clean the utensils at the sink, ignoring Romeo, who was busy attending to the dough in front of him. Eventually, Letta heard some tools from behind, indicating that Romeo was starting to work with the dough. After finishing her task, Letta turned around and noticed that Romeo was shaping the dough. Could he be making bread?
“Are you making bread?” Letta asked, making Romeo stay focused on the ingredients in front of him.
“So, you’re the one making all the bread in front?” Letta asked again. Previously, Letta hadn’t realized that Coffe Break also provided sweet treats directly. She thought Noah was partnering with another bakery.
“I mean, I thought Noah got it from another store because from the beginning, he didn’t mention that he also provides some sort of dessert or anything else to complement the coffee,” Letta said, making Romeo glance at her for a moment before returning to his work. At that moment, Letta not only noticed how skilled Romeo was in handling the dough but also observed his tattoo at the corner of his neck, resembling a wing. Additionally, she noticed the piercings in Romeo’s ear and a scar at the corner of his temple, seemingly an old wound.
Certainly, one might not believe that he was so adept at playing with dough. Letta was curious if his pastries would taste as delicious as his incredibly professional skill. She planned to try one of the pastries displayed in front of the shop.
