Chapter 2473
Ian watched the faint smirk play on Grant's lips, a slow burn of agony searing through his insides. In his mind, he had already cursed the man with the vilest words he could conjure. "Think whatever you want." Justin ignored the venom in Grant's gaze, his steps unwavering as he brushed past his elder brother.
"Do you truly believe you have allies on the board?" Grant's laughter rang out, laced with mockery.
Justin halted, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Grandpa is shielding you, but his health is failing. How much longer do you think he can protect you?" Grant adjusted the intricate ruby cufflink on his sleeve, his tone casual yet cutting. "Bella, the woman you so heartlessly abandoned-do you really think she'll stand by you without hesitation? That she will never leave your side, as she once did?"
The midday sun bore down, casting stark shadows against Justin's sculpted features. He stood tall, unmoved, yet his heartbeat pounded heavy in his chest, each thud a dull echo of unspoken emotion.
Silence stretched between them before Justin's voice finally broke through, low and hoarse." Even if she no longer trusts or needs me, I believe she can tell right from wrong. She will not stand with wolves or conspire with demons."
With that, he strode forward, never once looking back.
Grant's expression darkened. A moment later, he sneered. "Fine. Then let's wait and see who Bella truly chooses to stand beside."
In the underground parking lot, Grant sat in the backseat of a sleek luxury car, eyes half-closed. With a sharp tug, he loosened his tie, exhaling slowly. "President Salvador, here is the wine you requested."
his deep-set
His secretary poured the aerated red wine into a tall glass and handed it over with a respectful bow.
Grant accepted it, taking a slow, deliberate sip, as if trying to drown the storm brewing in his chest. A muffled cough escaped his lips.
The secretary hesitated. "President Salvador, please take care of your health... It would be best to drink less "
"I know my own body." Grant swirled the wine in his glass, watching the crimson liquid catch the dim lighting. His voice turned distant. "In two hours, Dr. Amaryllis will be released on bail, correct?"
"Yes, sir."
Grant lifted his chin slightly. "Take me to the police station."
The darkness was suffocating, like an abyss with no end, no hope.
In the damp air, thick with the scent of dust and decay, Yvonne slowly opened her eyes, only
to find herself blind to everything around her.
Her breath came in ragged gasps. When she shifted slightly, the iron chains fastened around her ankles clanked ominously.
She shut her eyes again, willing herself to cry, but no tears came. 'Have I gone blind?' In just half a month, they had forced three rounds of drug trials on her. Her body was already breaking. Red rashes covered her skin, and incontinence plagued her. Who could guarantee that this time, she would not lose her sight? Or worse-never see another dawn?
Just beyond the wall, separated by a mere partition, a man in a white lab coat pushed a cart to the door of Yvonne's cell. The heavy iron door creaked open. "Wait." A low, emotionless voice sounded from behind him.
What do you think?
