The Diary Of My Dead Wife

Chapter 11: Pretty, What do you like about me?

Chapter 11: Pretty, What do you like about me?

No matter how hard the Doctor tried to console Zac, he did not feel any better. He knew that miracles were deemed miracles for the sole reason that the probability of it happening was too low.

Two months passed already, and Sophie didn't wake up.

She was still asleep in the hospital bed, pale and thin, reliant on the machine to stay alive.

Zac stayed by her side every minute of the day and checked if she was fine from time to time.

He then heaved a deep sigh as he thought, “If my father didn't force me to work in the company to settle things, I would have chosen not to be affiliated with our own firm at all!"

Because of that, Thaddeus felt that Zac had gone crazy over the daughters of the Williams family and hated them more.

He thought that Edith and Sophie were not a good influence on his son, Zac, who's now decadent.

Although Sophie was currently unconscious, Zac felt that Sophie would not want to be hospitalized if she was awake, so he took her home.

He almost turned his room into a ward and made sure that all types of medical equipment were complete.

Zac does not care whether Sophie would wake up anytime soon or not.

He was pretty determined to even spend the rest of his life watching over her.

Because of everything that had happened, Zac's way of thinking had matured gradually.

Even though it was difficult for him to accept Sophie's critical condition, he couldn't be more grateful that God allowed her to fall into a coma and did not take Sophie's life immediately.

Zac had made extra efforts for Sophie.

He even asked the nurse to teach him everything that would be best for her, including massage.

He would personally wash Sophie's hair, face, and body every day.

As soon as the moon rose, Zac would gently lay her in the bed, and he would talk to her softly like a real husband even though she couldn't respond.

Despite every effort that Zac had exerted so far, he knew that it would not change the fact that he had been an asshole towards her.

He could not even tell how much of his efforts were out of love or guilt.

Zac would ask himself from time to time if he was doing all of this to relieve his guilt and feel a lot better.

However, every time he asks himself that question, he always ends up having no clear-cut answer.

One night, Zac was busy wiping Sophie's body gently with a towel when he suddenly asked, "Pretty, what do you like about me?"

He lightly touched Sophie's face as if it would break if he would press a little hard.

He took the strands of hair on her face and placed them behind her ear.

"It was already three years since we've met.We were drugged that time.I had no idea what happened, but I quickly jumped to conclusions, got angry at you, and treated you harshly.Nevertheless, you stayed nice and warm.Seriously, was there anyone in this world who was more stupid than you?"

Zac chuckled embarrassedly.

"Of course, there is.I am, right? You were in love with me for a long time, but I had never noticed it because of how stupid I was.Instead, I continued to hurt you for no acceptable reason.Sophie, do you hate me? You do, don't you? If you despise me, hurry up and open your eyes. You could slap me until you're satisfied.I won't mind if you raise your voice at me." Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

He then stared at Sophie seriously as he patted her hands.

Zac added, "When you wake up, I promise to take care of you, give you the finest things, and be the best husband you could ever ask for. We'll have a bunch of kids”

Raising a lot would be hard, so one child would be enough.

She could be the little version of you if she's a girl, or we could have a son who would look exactly like me.

Zac's lively tone slowly became serious.

His expression was like a combination of being worried and frustrated.

"Sophie, aren't you tired of sleeping so much? When are you going to open your eyes and look at me?"

With an unironed shirt, messy hair, and a faint smile, Zac said, "Don't keep me waiting for too long, Sophie, or I will get old and will no longer be handsome in your eyes."

Zac then went closer to her as he pressed his warm lips on her forehead gently.

His voice sounded hoarse, then he quickly wiped the tears on the corner of his eyes.

He looked at her once again and said, "I had so many things that I've been meaning to tell you. Please, wake up and give me even the coldest response.’’

Zac then buried his face on her neck and the feeling of loneliness lessened afterward.

He was already comfortable in his position beside Sophie when his phone rang.

Zac immediately answered the call when he figured that it was his assistant.

The person on the other end of the phone greeted Zac in a lively tone.

"Mr.Zac, we already found Dr.Anna.She was currently residing at an orphanage in Belgium!"

Zac's expression lightened because of the news.

Anna was the world’s only doctor who had successfully cured four coma patients.

She conducted extensive research on patients in that condition, which increased their chances of survival to 60%.

However, aside from working in a medical institution in her early years, Anna had not appeared in public nor worked in any hospital in the past ten years.

In order to wake Sophie up, Zac ordered a lot of people to have extensive research regarding patients in a coma until they found the great doctor, Anna.

Regardless of any cost, Zac was eager to bring Anna to Sophie.

He didn't want the latter to lie in bed like this for the rest of her life and he wanted her to be his wife once more, Zac thought, ‘’I do not need to think much.” He then stood up and said...

"Book me a ticket to Belgium right now for me to meet her personally”
