Chapter 453 Change of Tune
As Sophia's words hung in the air, laughter erupted once again.
The pitiful, sorrowful laughter echoed outside the door, sounding harsh and grating.
Michael stared at Sophia in disbelief, then immediately turned to Andrew. "Take Sophia to the police station right now. I want her behind bars!"

"Sorry, the number you dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later."
Dean had tried calling Sophia's backup phone three times, but she never picked up.
At first, Dean didn't want to worry, but then a neighbor called asking him to move his
car.
That's when Dean realized Sophia's backup phone was still in the car. She hadn't taken it with her.
Where could she have gone?
Dean couldn't figure it out, so he decided to check out Emerald City Psychiatric Hospital, hoping to uncover any secrets Sophia might be hiding.
But just then, he received a call from Archibald.
Every time Archibald called, it was either to lecture him or to give him advice.
It was always the same old spiel, incredibly tedious.
Dean's ears were practically calloused from hearing it.
If it weren't for the fact that Archibald had set up a studio for him, Dean would have
blocked him long ago and never spoken to him again.
But the phone kept ringing, and ignoring it wasn't an option, so Dean answered. "Hello?"
Jihisar priše, At cridantebrarryry voniesibaitarithony hitter pikore. Wentitreferans City Police Station right now, immediately!"
Emerald City Police Station? Dean was utterly baffled.
He was from Everglade City and had only been in Emerald City for less than two months.
He barely knew anyone in Emerald City, let alone had any dealings with the police. He had just opened a studio, and Archibald was his guarantor, so there shouldn't have been any issues.
Why was Archibald telling him to go to the police station?
With no other choice, Dean decided to go and see what was going on.
Meanwhile, at the Emerald City Police Station, Archibald hung up the phone and walked over to Michael with a grim expression.
"Dean is on his way. He'll cooperate with the investigation. I'm leaving now."
Michael looked up at Archibald, sighed, and, knowing this had nothing to do with Archibald, decided not to take his anger out on him. He simply said calmly, "Thank you."
Archibald, seeing this, thought for a moment and added, "Dean only knows Sophia. He probably has no idea about her plot against Emily. Please go easy on him."
Michael chuckled coldly. "Go easy? What power do I have? If Dean hasn't committed a crime, do you think I can just have the police arrest him? Rest assured, if he hasn't done anything, I won't harm him."
Archibald realized that Michael wasn't going to listen to reason.
After all, Emily had suffered so much. Anyone in Michael's position would be furious.
It was Dean's own fault. Archibald had warned him that Sophia wasn't a good person, but he didn't listen. Now he was reaping what he had sown.
Archibald didn't want to get involved any further because he was powerless to help. He could only hope that Dean was truly unaware of Sophia's actions.
With that, Archibald turned and left, heading to the hospital to check on Emily.

Even though it had nothing to do with Dean, Archibald felt he should at least apologize to Emily.
In the dimly lit interrogation room, a faint light shone on Sophia's head.
She leaned lazily against the chair, staring blankly at the floor.
When the police officer entered, she didn't react, only fluttering her eyelashes and pressing her lips together.
"Sophia?" The officer called her name, but Sophia didn't respond.
"Sophia?" The officer repeated, and when Sophia still didn't respond, he was about to
get angry when she suddenly looked up and asked, "When are you planning to let me
go?"
The two officers in the room exchanged glances, momentarily stunned.
"As soon as you tell us everything, we'll let you go."
Sophia's face took on a pitiful expression. "Sir, what are you talking about? I don't understand."
The officer explained the case again, and Sophia's frown deepened, looking confused. "Arson? Threats? What are you talking about? How could I harm my own sister?"
Sophia's sudden change of tone caught everyone off guard.
There were no surveillance cameras in the living room at the time, and Andrew, as Michael's secretary, couldn't serve as a witness.
Without evidence, Sophia could completely deny the charges and go home unscathed. Just as Michael was fuming with no outlet, Dean arrived.
Michael thought he had found a breakthrough. If Dean could prove that Sophia had left the house during the time Emily was harmed, Sophia would still be a suspect.noveldrama

The police explained the situation to Dean in detail.
But Dean listened as if he were hearing a story, remaining calm throughout. When the officer asked the final question, Dean raised an eyebrow and said, "Are you asking where she was this afternoon? I can vouch for her. She was at home the whole time. I'm her boyfriend; no one knows better than me.
"She only went out around five to get me dinner. She was gone for about ten minutes before being brought here. I don't know why..."
As he spoke, Dean looked up.
He appeared fearless, meeting Michael's furious gaze.
It was as if a wave of cold water had doused the raging fire within Michael.
Dean went on, "I don't know why these people are falsely accusing my girlfriend. It's absurd and laughable!"
Michael couldn't take it anymore.
He slammed the table and shouted at Dean. "Who's being absurd? Whether it was the arson or today's threats, it was all Sophia! She admitted it herself. Do you realize you're covering for her?"
"Covering?" Dean laughed again. "My girlfriend didn't do it. I can vouch for her. How is that covering? If that's the case, find the evidence that she did it. If you have it, I'll shut
up."
With that, the two sides were at a complete impasse.
The Emerald City police watched, feeling helpless.
Smith Corporation was a well-known company in Emerald City, and Dean's brother
Archibald was also someone they couldn't afford to offend.
Moreover, there was no evidence to convict Sophia of any crime.
If this continued, it would be a pointless struggle.
They had to release her soon.
