Chapter 16
"Brina!" Shannon yelled in shock, knowing that Sabrina had nothing to do with the spiked drink.
With a smile, Sabrina comforted her, "You shouldn't get worked up for your health. Why don't you head back into your room with Jackson? Leave this to Nelson and me, okay?"
Finally, Sabrina and Nelson were the only ones left in the living room. He regressed to staring at her with the familiar look of distaste and indifference.
"On one hand, you callously suggested a divorce and enforced boundaries. Then, when I lowered my guard, you made someone spike my drink. You're a cunning bitch," He sneered at her.
Never in his life had he fallen victim to a woman's tricks. He had to give it to her.
Sitting on the couch, she looked up at him but refused to speak up for herself. She had given up on trying ever since he treated her with increased aggression after she begged him to stop on that night.
They could never be husband and wife—not even siblings.
The familiar look of indifference crossed her face again. He felt frustrated at the sight of her long lashes and clear, bright eyes. "Say something!"
"We still have time today. Why don't we finalize the divorce?"
After some consideration, he chuckled and bent over, nearly pressing his face against hers.
Holding her breath, she was reminded of that night, when his hot breath lingered between their bodies and made her quiver.
She stiffened and tried to inch backward, but he grabbed the back of her neck and forced her to look up into his eyes. "Sabrina, we're not getting a divorce."
His lips were so near that she could kiss them if she struggled around.
"What do you mean?" She tried to calm down, but her shaky voice betrayed her emotions.
"If you're unhappy with my cold shoulder treatment for the last three years, how about we change the rules of the game?" He spoke in a soft murmur, but each of his words dealt a blow to her heart.
She finally realized that she had no say in ending the relationship with him. Panicking, she forced herself to talk it out with him. She offered, "I can give up on the company shares, the commercial lots, and even my company!"
"What about the brooch?" he challenged her.
Her nose was straight and perfect. The mole was the cherry on top. Anyone would have been mesmerized by her looks.
She appeared vulnerable when he caressed the mole on her nose tip. On that fateful night, she looked at him in the same manner, her hair scattered across the bedsheet. Her body was so pristine, eliciting an urge in him to ravage it.
"I don't like you, Sabrina. But I like your body."
She tried to slap him after hearing the humiliating remark, but he smilingly grabbed her wrist in time. She watched as the look in his eyes hardened before he bit her on the shoulder.
She trembled in pain even when protected by a layer of sweater. Holding back her moans, she resolved not to display her vulnerability, even if he tore her into pieces.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
They remained stuck in a silent tug-of-war until he received a call on his phone. He finally stopped hurting her when he saw the caller ID. He answered the call tenderly, "Hm?"
"Nelson, Ms. Wyatt replaced me with another ambassador."
Nelson glanced at Sabrina before fixing his gaze on her shoulder. He wondered if she was bleeding underneath her black turtleneck.
"Is that so?" he remarked.
Sabrina couldn't tell if he was addressing her or Pamela. However, it didn't matter to her. Since he had changed his mind about the divorce, she wanted to hit him where it hurt.
She deliberately inched toward his phone and stated, "Yeah! It was me who replaced you!"
