LABOR
The sound of the slap echoed around the room, and Carla’s head snapped to the side. She looked at Nolan in shock, her cheek red from the blow.
“You’re a traitor and a liar. You’ve betrayed my trust, and you’ve hurt Layla. I will never forgive you for that. You’re a disgrace to this kingdom. You really disappointed me! ” Nolan yelled at her. She stooped so low and did a lot of stupid things.
“It’s all because of you!!” Carla yelled as she pointed angrily at Layla.
“You destroyed everything, You! You! Yes, you!!!!” Carla screamed like a mad woman as she ran her hands through her hair.
Layla stood there, stunned by the outburst. She had never seen Carla like this before, so full of anger and hatred.
“I didn’t do anything,” she began, her voice trembling.
“I didn’t want any of this to happen. I’m sorry, but please believe me, I didn’t do anything wrong!”
But Carla wasn’t listening. She was too caught up in her own fury to hear reason.
“You ruined everything!” she cried, tears streaming down her face.
“I hate you! I hate you so much!” Layla felt her own tears start to fall.
“Don’t you get it, Layla? You’re bad luck!! How I wish you just died and got out of our lives, you feel Nolan loves you but he doesn’t. He never did. He’s only with you because of that thing you’re carrying in your womb..” she laughed maniacally. It seemed as if she had lost her mind.
Layla was stunned into silence. She had never heard such cruel words from Carla, and she couldn’t believe the hatred and bitterness in her voice.
But Carla just kept laughing, as if she found the whole situation hilarious. Layla felt her heart breaking. When did things go so wrong? She knew Carla hated her but she never knew it got to the point where she wanted her to die.
“If you had not appeared in our lives. Nolan would have been mine… ” he cried as she pulled her hair.
” Mine!!” She was about to charge at Layla but Nolan held her back.
” What are you doing Carla? ” He pushed her back in anger.
“I’m not letting you hurt her or do anything stupid again!” Nolan said his voice firm.
“This is ridiculous. I don’t know what’s gotten into you, but you need to stop this right now.”
” You’re only making things worse for yourself.. ” he pointed out.
Carla turned on him, her face twisted with rage.
“You’re just like the rest of them!” she spat.
“You’re all against me! I hate you! I hate all of you!”
” What are you saying, Carla? Even if Layla never came into my life, I still wouldn’t have chosen you, not in this life nor in the next. Don’t you get it? I’ll never see you in that way” he explained word for word, so it would sink in her head.
Carla stood there, frozen, as if she couldn’t process what he was saying. She had always believed that one day, he would see her for who she was and realize that they were meant to be together. But now, in the harsh light of day, she could see that it had all been a fantasy.
“I… I don’t understand,” she stammered.
“I thought… I thought you cared about me.”
“I do care about you, as a friend,” Nolan said, his voice gentle.
“But that’s all I can offer you. I’m sorry if I ever led you to believe I loved you… ”
“you’ve got to be kidding me. It’s because of her right? ” Carla pointed at Layla.
” I’ll kill her if that’s the case, she should be dead. Then you can be mine..” she scoffed her eyes directing nothing but hatred toward Layla.
” Just shut up Carla!!” Nolan yelled at her in anger.
” You already committed a great crime, don’t make things worse for yourself… ” he stated in a firm tone. He would make sure she got punished. She just went too far.
“It’s because it’s of her. Can’t you see Layla you’re destroying everything? This pack was so peaceful but you..” Carla groaned as she fell helplessly to the ground. It was all over now. Nolan now hated her and he would never forgive her for what she did. Never!
“You’ll be the worst mother ever. Trust me. You’ll destroy your child’s life, just like you destroyed everyone’s..” she fired at Layla in a calm Voice.
Layla felt her breath hitched as she cried silently.
“Why are you crying?” Aurora asked.
“Carla has lost her mind and you shouldn’t heed to the nonsense she’s sprouting, we should leave here? Aurora said as Layla looked quite shaken.
Layla nodded, feeling a wave of relief wash over her. She couldn’t believe the things Carla had done, but she was glad that Aurora was there to support her.
“Let’s go,” she agreed, wiping her eyes and taking a deep breath.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
They turned to leave, but Carla stopped them as she yelled, a dark look on her face.
“You’re not going anywhere,” she snarled. “I won’t let you.”
Aurora’s eyes narrowed. “You’re not in charge here, Carla, you belong here in the dungeon not us,” she said, her voice cold.
” Let go..” she tugged Layla’s arm but she noticed she held a strange look on her face.
” Are you okay? ” Aurora asked softly and everyone immediately directed their attention on Layla.
” I’m fine, it’s just that are!! ” Layla yelled as she felt a sudden pain in her stomach.
” Layla, are you alright?” Nolan asked as he held her.
” Yes, I’m fine. I’m just feeling some, oh my God!! ” Layla yelled, the pain increasing. She felt the baby kick so hard, that she doubted it was time for delivery, it wasn’t the due date yet.
The pain came in waves, and Layla began to panic. “I think my water just broke,” she gasped, clutching at her stomach. “I think the baby’s coming!”
Aurora looked at Nolan, and he nodded, his face pale with worry.
“Darren get the doctor, come on I’ll carry you..” he raised her up from the ground and she yelled out yet again.
“Xander keep an eye on her..” his eyes traveled the Carla who was seated on the ground and then he took Layla out of the dungeon in haste.
